Promoting Health and Well-being

Our facilities are available to hire for sport and leisure activities so you would think that good health is high on the committees agenda. Of course it is implied by the very nature of our title, however, it is true that we have left this to the community and our customers to choose what, when, and if they wanted to use us for this purpose. Given the issues related to the pandemic we have decided that one of the foci for 2022 is to actively promote positive health and well-being.

The current social situation has impacted on people in lots of different ways, not least causing low mood. The NHS website identifies five things that people can do to lift their mood and improve well-being:

Connect with other people (see our volunteering page)

Be physically active

Learn new skills

Give to others

Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness)

We have decided that we will organise some (Covid19 safe) activities throughout the year for the community which take account of the advice above and therefore if people choose to join in, it will help improve both their physical and mental well-being.
